ICARDA-ILRI-BOKU project workshop – Dr. Azage Tegegne (group discussion report)

On 29 October 2010, the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) hosted a workshop as part of a project entitled ‘designing community-based breeding strategies for indigenous sheep breeds of smallholders in Ethiopia.’

The main objectives of the event were:

  • share the achievement of the completed project and understand the differences between the four regions where the project is implemented;
  • get feedback from the stakeholders involved in the current project;
  • introduce, discuss and agree on the follow-up project;
  • engage old and new partners at this very initial phase of planning a new (follow up) project.

The project, funded by the Austrian Development Agency, brought together partners from national agricultural research systems, ministry of agriculture, donor agencies, private enterprises and scientists from the International Center for Agricultural Research in Dry Areas (ICARDA), ILRI, the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.
